Obituary for Adeline C. Hein

Adeline C. Hein, age 104 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, March 26, 2023, at Shawano Place where she had been a resident for the past two years.

Adeline was born in Shawano on October 4, 1918, a daughter of the late Walter and Hattie (Schultz) Schmeisser. She attended St. James Lutheran School followed by Shawano High School, graduating with the Class of 1936. On September 25, 1943, she was united in marriage to Raymond Hein at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Adeline was employed as a salesclerk at the Reinholz Shoe Store for over 30 years. She also worked at Glarus women’s clothing store for several years. She was a devout Christian and very active at St. James Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. Adeline and Ray enjoyed traveling, particularly out west. Raymond preceded her in death on July 27, 1995.

Survivors include her son, Lester “Butch” (Mary) Hein of Shawano; two grandsons, Mike Hein, and Rod Hein, both of Shawano; two great-grandchildren, Hannah (Jason Heinz) Hein and Gunnar Hein; five step grandchildren, Jeremy (Tracie) LeMere, Holly (Kevin) Kaminski, Jason (Michelle) LeMere, Heather (Bobby) Hintz, and Heidi (Justin Hack) LeMere; and former granddaughter-in-law, Tia Hein. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Lucille Umland, Gertrude Unger, Alice Wilber, Jaculyn Berger, and Elaine Geline; four brothers, Harold, Carl, Leonard, and Ralph Schmeisser.
A funeral service for Adeline will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11:30 am at St. James Lutheran Church. Pastor Andrew Zobel will officiate. The burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will begin at the church at 10:00 am and continue until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred in Adeline’s name for the sound system at St. James Lutheran Church.
