Obituary for Adeline M. "Tooty" Lutz

Adeline M. “Tooty” Lutz, age 95 of Shawano, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023, at Shawano Health Services.

Adeline was born July 24, 1928, in Park Falls, Wisconsin, a daughter of Anthony and Bessie (Mahanna) Maslowske. She graduated from high school in Mosinee, and later moved to Wisconsin Rapids where she met her husband, Jim. The couple married on November 25, 1950, and lived in Wisconsin Rapids until moving to Shawano in 1955.

While Adeline worked part-time in a doctor’s office, with the Shawano Schools, and as a poll worker during elections, she was most happy as a mother and housewife. She enjoyed visiting with the neighbors, both in her neighborhood and at their cottage on Cloverleaf Lakes. While not much of a “joiner” she was a member of the St. Ann’s Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and occasionally served for special events at the American Legion Hall. Much to the surprise of her family, Tooty became a walker later in life. All her family members became accustomed to hearing, “I saw your mother out walking”.

Adeline is survived by her husband, Jim of Shawano; her sons, Michael (Carol) Lutz of Middleton, and Patrick (Diane) Lutz of Beaver Dam; her daughter, Kim (John) Hoffman of Shawano; her sisters, Marg, and Mary Maslowske of Green Bay; her grandchildren, Kristie Lutz of Los Angeles, and Justin Lutz of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wallace (Alice) Malone; and her sisters, Rose (Dee) Sheedy, and Bette (Chuck) Bauer.

A memorial Mass for Adeline will be celebrated on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Fr. Edward Looney will be the Celebrant. Inurnment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Mausoleum in Shawano. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and continue until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers and plants, please make memorials in Adeline’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
