Obituary for Alexander L. "Al" Little

Alexander L. “Al” Little, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at his home. Al was a persistent fighter, surviving a string of health issues, thanks to the fierce care of his wife of 62 years, Karen, and his determination.

Al was born in Chicago, IL on November 1, 1936, to Scottish immigrants, William and Agnes
(Stockman) Little. Al married the former Karen Atzel in Chicago in 1960, and they moved to Wheeling, IL before becoming long-time residents of Arlington Heights, IL. Al and Karen moved to Keshena, Wisconsin in 2010 after visiting and vacationing in the area since Al was seven years old.

Al was a pioneer in the air balancing and water handling industry, founding Aircraftsman and the A.L. Little Company, working all over the United States and Ireland. He was a proud 60-year union member. He was also a member of the Army National Guard.

Al enjoyed watching old movies and spending time outdoors: fishing, golfing, skiing, and sailing from Monroe Harbor onto Lake Michigan. He loved to share stories of his 67 years with Karen, including their first meeting at a roller rink, their trip to Ireland, and all the live music they saw together, including Frank Sinatra.

He was an adoring husband to Karen; loving father to Pauline (Dan), Scott, Tracy (Sal), and Chris (Jennifer); a devoted grandfather to Teagan, Patrick, Matthew, Erika, Zachary, Jessica (Corey), and Samantha (Mike); and great grandfather to Logan and Charlotte. He was a great brother to Peggy, John, Aggie, Eddie, Mary, and Kathy. He was a special uncle to Diane and John. Al was preceded in death by his daughter, Pauline.

A celebration of life Al’s life will be held at a later date.
