Obituary for Beverly A. "Bev" Kleinschmidt

Beverly A. “Bev” Kleinschmidt, age 84, formerly of Shawano, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ following a valiant thirteen-year battle with cancer on Tuesday morning, August 15, 2023, in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Beverly was born in Appleton on October 19, 1938, a daughter of the late Clarence and Esther (Abitz) Boldt. She was baptized and became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Appleton. Bev attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Grade School, then Appleton West High School, graduating with the Class of 1956. Following school, she worked at Kimberly Clark in Neenah as a statistical typist.

In 1959, Beverly married Richard Wegenke, and the couple moved to the Washington DC area, then Munising, MI, Rhinelander, WI, and Shawano. Their marriage was blessed with four daughters, Wendy, Lori, Dianne, and Jennifer. On July 28, 1979, Bev married Wilbur Kleinschmidt at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano, each bringing four children together in their new family. At the time, four of the children were in college. Wil and Bev have celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Beverly is a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano where she was a member of the Altar Guild and sang in the choir. She served as treasurer for Lutherans for Life and the WI Right to Life. Beverly was employed as the manager of the children’s department at Chaimson’s in Shawano. She also worked at JC Penney, and owned and operated her own cleaning business. Bev loved to garden, decorate, read, and babysitting her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wil of Neenah; her children, Wendy (Stuart Ciske) Wegenke of Sun Prairie, Lori (Larry) King of Bloomington, MN, Dianne Leeder of Verona, and Jennifer (Kelly) Herm of Neenah; her stepchildren, Mara Kleinschmidt of Eagle, CO, Del (Liz) Kleinschmidt of Golden, CO, Lora Kleinschmidt of Littleton, CO, and step-daughter-in-law, Kim Maduscha of Shawano; her grandchildren, Cate and Colin Ciske, Caitlin (Roll) Baburam, Andrew Moldenhauer, Kiana and Kamryn Leeder, McKenna and Jacob Herm, Josh and Liam Schaecher, Skyler and Katrianna Kleinschmidt, Michael (Melissa) Kleinschmidt, Heather (Sonny) Crow, and Eric Maduscha; great-grandchildren, Oberon, Addisyn, Callie, Harper Drew, Thalia, Elijah, Aaron, Asia, and Sunshine; and her great-great-grandchildren, Keaton, and Kamryn. Beverly was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Wegenke; her stepson, Drew Kleinschmidt; her brother, David Boldt; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A funeral service for Beverly will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 1:00 pm at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Andrew Zobel will officiate. Visitation will begin at the church on Saturday at 11:00 am and continue until the time of service. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to St. James Lutheran Church and St. James Lutheran School, WI Right to Life, and Lutherans for Life.
