Obituary for Cheryl J. "Sherry" Marohl

Cheryl J. “Sherry” Marohl, age 68 of Cecil, passed away Wednesday evening, January 5, 2022, at ThedaCare Medical Center–Shawano.

Sherry was born December 31, 1953, in Lima, Ohio, a daughter of the late Eugene and Carol (Tellock) Hoffman. She attended school in Hortonville and later attended and graduated from Tigerton High School with the Class of 1972. Sherry worked at Tuttle Press and Hillshire Farm and bartended on the side. In 1983, she purchased the Elbowroom Bar in Cecil which she owned and operated until July of 2007. Sherry was extremely generous when groups requested donations.

In 2002 Sherry married the love of her life, Robert “Bobby” Marohl in Las Vegas. Bobby passed away in 2020. Sherry loved attending the Hodag Country Music Festival. Her trademark was signing everything with a smiley face. Sherry was known for being an incredibly supportive and giving friend as well as a great cook. Everyone will miss her delicious cooking.

Survivors include her brother, Stanley Hoffman of Tigerton; her sister, Sheila (Bob) Baumgart of Greenville; three nieces, Nichole (Sergei) Baumgart-Medvezhenko, Cara (Russ) Gable, and Mary Jo (Clint) Federer; three nephews, Nicholas Minniecheske, Cory Minniecheske, and Paul (Nikki) Baumgart; six great-nephews; and three great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her son, Shawn Hoffman.

A memorial service for Sherry will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 11:00 am at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Pastor Moira Finley will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am and continue until the time of service.
