Obituary for Daniel C. "Bunk" Behnke
Daniel C. “Bunk” Behnke, age 71 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, October 12, 2022, at his home in Shawano.
Dan was born December 26, 1951, in Shawano, a son of the late Edward and Phyllis (Schutt) Behnke. He attended St. James Lutheran School and Shawano High School, graduating with the Class of 1970. Dan served his country in the U.S. Army from January, 1971 to January 1973). When he returned from service, he worked for Boldt Construction for many years. Dan then worked part-time for Chris and Justin Popp Builders, and Orvis Bohm & Sons in Shawano. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent most of his free time hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his son, Kevin Behnke of Shawano; his grandson, Grant Behnke; the mother of his son, Becky Behnke; his brothers and sisters, Bonnie Behnke, Ricky (Jacky) Behnke, Judy Merten, Joanne (Clem) Jagodzinski, Tommy Behnke, Sally Lohrentz, and Nancy Behnke. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Randall, Ronald, and Larry Behnke.
A time to gather and celebrate Dan’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Shawano’s Café in Shawano. Military Honors will be provided by the Shawano AmVets Post #10 at 4:15 pm.
