Obituary for Emma Grabko

Emma Grabko, age 81 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 17, 2022, in Shawano.

Emma was born in Olschewka, Ukraine on November 17, 1940, a daughter of the late Otto and Lydia (Tomtschik) Gaschke. When she was twelve years old, her family emigrated to the United States and settled in Pound, Wisconsin. In 1956, Emma moved to Milwaukee where she attended school, graduating from high school in 1958. Following high school, she went to work at the Briggs & Stratton Company in Milwaukee. She met her future husband, Walter, and the couple married on June 18, 1960, at the Garfield Baptist Church in Milwaukee. Once Emma became a mother, she stayed home to raise her children.

She is a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church in Brookfield. Emma loved her Lord and sought to serve and honor him in many ways, including playing her guitar and singing. She loved fishing and enjoyed taking family vacations at the lake. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Walter Grabko of Shawano; her children, Donald (Karen) Grabko of Sussex, Margaret Puza of Marion, and Tina (Ronald) Hofmann of Menominee Falls; six grandchildren, Kelly (Michael) Wagner, Mindy Grabko, Sarah Grabko, Ronald Hofmann, Jr., Sonya Hofmann, and Marcus Hofmann; her brother, Paul (Jutta) Gaschke of Brookfield; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Penno.

Funeral services for Emma will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11:00 am at Ridgewood Baptist Church in Brookfield. Pastor Kent Palmer will officiate. Burial will take place a Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday at the church.
