Jim was born June 21, 1948, in Shawano, a son of the late Harold and Marge (Heling) Rusch. He attended St. James Lutheran School and later the Shawano Schools, graduating with the class of 1966. Jim was a man with a big heart. This was evident throughout his life in how he responded to tragedies in the world and his expressed desire for justice, kindness, and love in the world. A lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church, Jim attended church regularly, read his devotions daily, and knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He was a brilliant conversationalist with an astounding memory and sharp intellect. Jim stood strong in his beliefs and never wavered on his convictions. He loved discussing current events and was a passionate Packer fan, never missing a game on television. Jim enjoyed regular lunches and talks with his friends and family, and his close friendship with Sandy. He took great pride in his home and decorated for every holiday. He especially loved his Christmas decorations which lit up the neighborhood.

Jim was a loving brother to: John (Sue) Rusch, Dan (Audrey) Rusch, Marianne (John) Oates, and Dick (Karen) Rusch; and an adored uncle to Tammy, Samantha, Jonathan, Megan, Michael, and Kiley. All will miss Jim dearly, along with his great nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
