Obituary for James M. "Jim" Seliger

James M. “Jim” Seliger, age 68 of Shawano, formerly of Park Falls, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon, July 12, 2022, at his home.

Jim was born in Spokane, Washington on April 19, 1954, a son of the late Melvin “Curly” and Lou Anne (Vetter) Seliger. He attended St. Mary’s grade school and Marathon High School, graduating with the Class of 1972. Jim was employed as an electrician with his family business, Seliger Electric in Marathon City for eighteen years. On May 27, 1983, he was united in marriage to the former Jeanne Busko. In 1986, the couple, along with their children, moved to Park Falls, Wisconsin where they purchased Flambeau Lanes and later, Northway Motor Lodge. They owned and operated the businesses until selling them in 2019, when they moved to Shawano. Jim was currently employed as an electrician at Kallies Electric.

Jim was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was very active with the Park Falls Chamber of Commerce and was on the Board of Directors at 1st National Bank in Park Falls. Jim was elected to the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Tavern League and received several awards from the American Beverage Licensees.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne of Shawano; his children, Lisa (Ben) Verhagen of Kaukauna, Rebecca (Jesse) Vosters of Shawano, William (Supria) Reisner of Hurlburt Field, FL, and Michael (Marcee) Seliger of Sheboygan; ten grandchildren, Samantha, Ashley, Grant, Mason, Brody, Peyton, Caden, Griffin, Marchael, and Claire; two brothers, Brian (Jennifer) Seliger of Madison, and Anthony (Carla) Seliger of Marathon City; six sisters, Jan (Frank Gwidt) Radke of Wautoma, Karol (Paul) Wolk of Pelican Lake, Karen (Roger) Weisenberger of Marathon City, Linda (Scott) Braunel of Wausau, Laura (Randy) Viegut of Edgar, and Mary (John) Newmeier of Stratford; his sister-in-law, Jaci Seliger of Wausau; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Reisner; and brothers, Thomas, who died in infancy, and Robert Seliger.

A time to gather and celebrate the life of James Seliger will take place on Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano.
