Obituary for James G. "Jim" Wallace

James G. “Jim” Wallace, age 61 of Shawano, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, August 2, 2022, of natural causes.

Jim was born July 13, 1961, in Wayne, Nebraska, a son of the late Charles and Anita (Poppendorf) Wallace. When Jim was three years old, his family moved to Shawano where he attended Shawano schools, graduating with the Class of 1979. Following high school, he studied marketing communications at NWTC, earning his associate degree. He then went to work for the Shawano Shopper’s Guide for 25 years. Later, Jim worked at Davidson Title Company and was currently employed at Tom’s Tap.

On September 24, 1983, Jim married the former Cheryl Oberle at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Jim was a member of the Shawano County Fair Board and worked at the stock car races. In his younger years, he coached Little League baseball. Jim was an avid hunter, who enjoyed the camaraderie of camp more than the actual hunting. He loved to read and enjoyed music, introducing his sons to classical blues and rock and roll. Jim was a fan of Shawano High School sports, attending numerous sporting events.

Survivors include his sons, Luke (Amanda) Wallace of Dubuque, Iowa, and Logan Wallace of Green Bay; his grandchildren, Kennedy Wallace, Madelynn Giese, and Trent Giese, all of Dubuque, Iowa; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Cheryl LeMere of Green Bay; two brothers, Michael (Kelly) Wallace of Milwaukee and David (Liz) Wallace of Clintonville; his sister, Kathy (Timothy) Lohmiller of Shawano; his dear friends, Levi and Bailie Hahn; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A time to remember and celebrate Jim’s life will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at The Pad in Shawano.
