Obituary for Joanne H. Frank

Joanne H. Frank, age 88 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 21, 2022, at Birch Hill Care Center in Shawano where she had been a resident for the past two months.

Joanne was born in West Allis on August 26, 1933, a daughter of the late Theodore and Hattie (Sinculair) VandenHeuvel. As a young girl, she lived in Two Rivers until she and her family moved to Seymour when she was in the second grade. Joanne graduated from Seymour High School with the Class of 1952. Following high school, she attended UW-LaCrosse, then was employed at the canning factory in Seymour. On February 22, 1958, she was united in marriage to Eugene J. Frank at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Eugene preceded her in death on July 16, 2018. Following their marriage, the couple worked on the Frank farm in the Town of Wescott. They retired from farming in 1995, but Joanne remained on the farm until June of 2022.

Joanne was a good and faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. She was active with Girl Scouts, the Shawano Homemakers Club, the Shawano County Farm Bureau, and the Mielke Theater. Joanne also worked at the annual Folk Music and Craft Festival.

Survivors include her sons, Leo (Deb) Frank and Ted (Michelle) Frank, both of Shawano, and Dan (Susan) Frank of Carrollton, MO; her daughter, Jo (Eric) Frank of Franklin, VA; her grandchildren, Nicki Wood, Logan, Joshua, Gabriel, Noah, Jonah, and Kayla Whitehouse, and Nathaniel Frank; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, John VandenHeuvel of AZ and Jim VandenHeuvel of Green Bay; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Joanne was preceded in death by one grandson, Kyle Alexander, and one great-granddaughter, Kira Ann Elizabeth Frank.

A memorial service for Joanne will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 1:00 pm at St. James Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark Drengler will officiate. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm and continue until the time of service. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
