Leland C. “Lee” Habeck, age 86 of Shawano, passed away peacefully in Shawano on Friday morning, December 3, 2021, with his loving family by his side, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Lee was born April 25, 1935, in the Town of Richmond, a son of the late Julius and Lenora (Jesse) Habeck. He attended country schools prior to Shawano High School where he graduated with the Class of 1952. Following high school, he worked on the home farm in the Town of Richmond before working at Kriewaldt Cheese Factory hauling milk. On September 4, 1954, he was united in marriage to the former Sandra Pahlow at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Lee was a well-known local household mover at Engel Moving & Storage in Shawano for over 40 years, and served as manager until his retirement.
Lee was a man of faith and integrity. He is a member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the Town of Richmond where he served as an usher, trustee, and an elder. He was a perfectionist when it came to caring for the lawn at church. Lee enjoyed trout fishing, deer hunting, and in his earlier years he was an avid softball player. He was a Packer fan and enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. Lee always looked forward to the annual family trip to the Northwoods, and fishing trips with the boys. He treasured the weekly Sunday family dinners. While living at Madison Way, Lee enjoyed taking his scooter rides when weather permitted.
