Obituary for Margaret P. "Marge" Escalante
Margaret P. “Marge” Escalante, age 65 of Shawano, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Marge was born January 27, 1956 in Ironwood, Michigan, a daughter of the late Edward G. and Patricia M. (Cox) Matusewic. She moved to South Branch when she was 16 years old. Marge worked for the Menominee Indian School District as a custodian for several years.
On July 4, 2009, Marge was united in marriage to Robert Escalante in Shawano. She is a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. Marge enjoyed playing bingo, visiting the casino, and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings.
Survivors include: her husband, Robert, of Shawano; three children, James Waupoose of Shawano, Amy (David) Hernandez of Shawano, and Kristy Wilber Waupoose of Green Bay; 14 grandchildren; her special granddaughter, Tasheena; ten great-grandchildren; her brother, Joe Matusewic of Ironwood, MI; her sister, Mary (Jerry) Matson of Iron Belt, WI; her best friend, Tory Gladue; her fur babies, Puddles, Bubbles, Emily, and Awaehsaeh; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Angie Waupoose Merino; three sisters; two brothers; and her special fur baby, Poopers the dog.
A Funeral Mass for Margaret will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. Fr. Nonito Barra will be the Celebrant. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mickelson Funeral Service. Visitation will resume at the church on Wednesday at 9:00 AM and continue until the time of Mass.
