Obituary for Mary A. Lepak

Mary A. Lepak, age 78 of Shawano, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, January 27, 2023, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Appleton following a brief illness.

Mary was born in Shawano on September 18, 1944, a daughter of the late William and Charlotte (Baumgarten) Schutt. She attended school in Shawano, graduating from Shawano High School. Following school, Mary was a secretary at Aid Association for Lutherans in Appleton. On May 28, 1966, she was united in marriage to Gabriel Lepak at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2022.

The couple lived in Appleton until moving to Shawano in 1986. Mary stayed home to raise her daughters while they were young. While the girls were in school, she worked for the Appleton School District where she was a lunch lady, recess monitor, and classroom aide. As her children got older, Mary returned to work at AAL in Appleton. While living in Shawano, she worked at various jobs, ultimately retiring from Kmart as a pharmacy technician. Mary is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Her hobbies were focused on her family, caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was known to be a very sweet, kind, and compassionate person. Her famous raspberry jello was the centerpiece of every holiday meal and a memory her grandchildren will cherish.

Survivors include her daughters, Stacey (Joe) Cicero of Shawano, and Christine (Blake) Zika of Palmetto, Florida; her grandchildren, Griffin Burris “Frater Charles”, Marcus, and Chloe Cicero, and Luke, Kaia, and Sierra Zika; her brothers, Dennis (Esther) Schutt and William (Ann) Schutt, all of Shawano; her niece, Melanie (Scott) Jung of Shawano; her nephews, Wade (Christine) Schutt of Shawano, and Christopher Schutt of Minnesota; and her special friend and cousin, JoAnne Krueger of Cecil. Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Schutt.

A Memorial Mass for Mary will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Fr. Scott Valentyn will be the Celebrant. Private inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am at the church and continue until the time of Mass.
