Obituary for Mary Lou Peterson
Mary Lou Peterson, age 89 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2023, at The Cottages in Shawano.
Mary was born in Belle Plaine on February 12, 1934, a daughter of the late Lynn and Margaret (Mervyn) Peterson. She lived her entire life on her family’s farm, Century Farm, in the Town of Belle Plaine until moving into assisted living. Mary worked at FWD Seagrave in Clintonville as a switchboard operator/receptionist until her retirement. She was lovingly known as “the voice of the drive.” Mary’s greatest joy in life came from caring for her dogs. Many thanks to her cherished friend, Sandy, who adopted and adores Mary’s dog, Teddy.
Mary is survived by her nephew, Tim (Yvonne) Wandel. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bill; her sisters, Helen Sullivan, and Jean Wandel Gray; and her nephews, Michael Sullivan, and Ronald and Robert Wandel.
A memorial service for Mary will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano. Pastor Uriah Williams will be the officiant. Inurnment will be at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am at the church and continue until the time of service.
