Maynard also made bird houses. In his younger years, he was an avid deer hunter and always enjoyed fishing.

Maynard is a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. He was a kind and friendly man who loved to tell jokes. Maynard and Yvonne were members of the “Breakfast Club” which met every Monday morning. After feeding his chickens, he would head to Cecil for breakfast and camaraderie.
