Obituary for Raymond W. Beyer

Raymond W. “Ray” Beyer, age 94 of Shawano passed away on Wednesday afternoon, August 18, 2021 at the Cottages in Oconto Falls.

Ray was born September 18, 1926 in the Town of Waukechon to Ferdinand and Marie (Otto) Beyer. On July 12, 1952 he was united in marriage to the former Ruth Bartz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hermansfort. She preceded him in death on November 13, 2017. Ray served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and played the trombone with the 1st Calvary Band.

Ray was a truck driver for 41 years for Morning Glory Farms and Northland Foods. He was also an assessor, building inspector, served on the Shawano County Board for the Town of Richmond, and was a Deputy Sheriff. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church where he served as financial secretary, and was an usher for many years. Ray is a past member of the Clintonville Riverside Golf Club.

Survivors include his children, Cheryl Beyer of Grafton and Alan (Cheri) Beyer of Shawano; his grandchildren, Shane (Becky) Beyer, Roanne (Spencer) Austin, and Matthew Beyer; great-grandchildren, Cole and Noah Beyer, and Madeline Courkamp; his sister, Betty Bartz; and his brother-in-law, Charles (Bonnie) Bartz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and his sisters, Maxine Huebner and Bernice Schroeder.

In keeping with Ray’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
