Obituary for Richard A. "Dick" Hoffmann

Richard “Dick” Allen Hoffmann, age 81 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023.

Richard was born in Shawano on December 1, 1942, to the late John and Ida (Beske) Hoffmann - Westphal. He attended Shawano High School where he graduated with the Class of 1961. Richard then enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1961 until he was honorably discharged in 1964. On August 7, 1965, he was united in marriage to Donna Kuhn at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Richard worked for Knope Roofing and Heating for 32 years and was also a Sheriff Auxiliary Deputy for Shawano County. After his departure from Knope he worked at Senzigs Furniture until his retirement.

Richard was an active member and elder at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He loved hunting, fishing, going up north to the cottage, watching the Green Bay Packers, making firewood, being in the woods, and spending time with his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughter, Brenda (Hoffmann) Laehn; son, Steve (Dawn Schulrud) Hoffmann; grandchildren, Ashley (Lawrence) Coon, Courtney (Levi Schoenick) Laehn, Jordan Laehn, Connor Hoffmann, Abbigal Hoffmann, and Aiden Laha; great-granddaughter, Avery Coon; and brother-in-law, Lynn Hansen. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John, Ida, and Ervin; brother, William “Bill” Hoffmann; sister, Nancey Hansen; and sister-in-law, Carol Hoffmann.

A memorial service for Richard will be held Friday, December 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Pastor Dean Suehring will officiate. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service.
