Obituary for Shirley M. Dickie

Shirley M. Dickie, age 75 of Shawano, passed away at her home on Sunday, June 6, 2021 following a three year illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born March 30, 1946 in Madison, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Morris and Madeline (Meylor) Bystol. She attended school in Shawano, graduating with the Shawano High School Class of 1964. Following school she was employed at Menominee County Human Services. On November 19, 1966, Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Gordon Dickie, Jr. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. The couple made their home and raised their children in Shawano. Gordon preceded Shirley in death on October 2, 2003.

Over the years, Shirley had several jobs. She worked as the Athletic Director and volleyball coach at Sacred Heart Catholic School, and she also worked as a florist. Most recently Shirley was the manager of CDL Forest Products based in Keshena, having retired after 15 years with the company.

Shirley is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. In her younger years she was very active and involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She loved attending PowWows, hand crafting PowWow regalia, and sporting events. Shirley always kept herself busy and active.

Survivors include her two children, Melonie (Brian) Reopelle of Gresham, and Chad (Veronica) Dickie of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, Brock (Stephanie) Reopelle, BoMorris Reopelle, Sage Mauritson, and Ryker Dickie; and two great-grandchildren, Gru and Zara Davids. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters, Mike (Barb) Bystol, Beverly (Randy) Pingel, Marcia (Jim) Yeager; Mark (Sue) Bystol, Ron (Lori) Bystol, Leann (Dave) Gueths, and Jodi (Jenny) Bystol; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister-in-law, Candy Dickie Smith; and her nephew Matthew Bystol.

A Funeral Mass for Shirley will be celebrated on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Fr. Robert Mitchell will be the Celebrant. Interment will take place in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a parish wake service at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass.
