Obituary for Shirley A. Kriegel

Shirley A. Kriegel, age 60 of Shawano, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday morning, March 5, 2021 in Shawano.

Shirley was born December 17, 1960 in Antigo, Wisconsin, a daughter of Elmyra M. (Hoffman) Kriegel and the late Harold E. Kriegel. She attend school in Antigo, graduating from Antigo High School in 1979. Following high school, Shirley moved to Shawano where she was employed at Lakeland Industries. She was a good and faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano, and was active with the Ladies Quilting Group and the Fun and Fellowship Group.

Shirley was involved with the Special Olympics for almost 35 years and the Free Spirit Bowling League for nearly 30 years. She won numerous trophies for bowling and the Special Olympics. She also participated with the Thornton Trail Riders Cabin Fever Run for several years. Shirley was a Packer fan and loved to travel.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Elmyra Kriegel of Mattoon, Wisconsin; her brother Kim (Laurie) Kriegel of Danbury, Wisconsin; her sister, Sheila (David) Manney of Antigo; and her nephews, Sam and Matthew Manney, Nolan (Sarah) Kriegel, and Mason (Alejandra) Kriegel. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Kriegel, on August 17, 2020.

A funeral service for Shirley will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mattoon. Pastor Dean Bertsch will officiate. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Town of Hutchins. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. An additional visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the St. James Lutheran Church Radio Broadcast Fund.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the family requests masks be worn while in attendance and social distancing be followed.
