Obituary for Wendell J. Corn Sr.

Wendell J. Corn, Sr., age 80 of Keshena, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, March 31, 2022, in Keshena.

Wendell was born in Keshena on May 11, 1941, a son of the late Abram and Margaret (Baxter) Corn, Sr. He grew up in Keshena and attended Shawano High School. Wendell was employed at MTE and at the tribal offices doing maintenance work. He was married to Harriet Madosh. For over 30 years he was with his significant other, Laura Maskewit, who preceded him in death in 2017. Wendell was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. He loved to take rides in the woods, visit with family and friends, and watch sports on television.

Survivors include his children, Wendal (Candy) Corn, Jr. and Leslie “Chawb” Corn, both of Keshena; his stepchildren, Lisa “Willy” Annamitta of Green Bay, Doretta (Vyron) Dixon, Sr. of Neopit, Michelle “Dumpy” LeRoy of Appleton, Keith Klitz of Gresham, and Jerrilyn Waukau of Keshena; his special granddaughters, Leslie Corn and Shawn Summers; grandchildren, Wendell Corn III, Adriane Corn, Marcus Corn, Lauren Corn, and Marquita House; his special nieces, Alysse Arce Corn and Michelle Peters; his brother, Abram “Chiefy” Corn, Jr. of Janesville; half-sister, Ruth Waupoose of Keshena; half-brothers, Mike House and Lowell Waupoose, both of Keshena and Weston House, Jr. of Minnesota; his Godchild, LeeAnn Corn; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by four sisters.

A Funeral Mass for Wendell will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. Fr. Hans Christian will be the Celebrant. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will begin after 4:00 pm on Monday, April 4, 2022, at the Wendal and Candy Corn residence, W2683 Chief Josette Road, Keshena and continue until Wednesday morning at 9:30 when the procession leaves for church.
